With love and sadness, the family of Edward “Trill” Torrilhon mourns his passing on January 29, 2019 at the age of 77.
Born in 1941 and raised in Hoboken, New Jersey, Trill settled in Northern California and in the 1970’s he opened a showroom in the San Francisco Merchandise Mart and combined the business of wholesaling oriental rugs with his love of collecting rocks and minerals. Over the years he represented many top national lines of area rugs including Charm Tread and Aldon area rugs, Gagalis Flokati, Belgotex machine made rugs, KVT, Amiran Oriental Rugs, and more recently Gertmenian and Sons for whom he worked well into his 70’s.
He was a charming salesman and sharp business man who was never afraid to ask for the sale. At heart, however, he was truly a people person, remembering small details about colleagues, complimenting them on achievements, inquiring about their children and readily handing out stock tips or business advice.
Upon his father’s passing Trill chose to honor both his father and grandfather’s legacy by becoming a member of the Livermore-Pleasanton Elks Lodge in 2000. He eventually served as the lodge’s Exalted Ruler, District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler and Historian. Although he became an Elk later in life, he truly strived to live by the Elk motto of “Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love, and Fidelity”.
