David Stunda, Sales Director for Barbarossa Leather, and Dada Patil, President of Catania Silks have been elected to join the International Textile Alliance (ITA) Board of Directors
Stunda began working with textiles in the 1990s while living in Tokyo, Japan. He formed a company that sourced and imported textiles from other Asian countries, the Americas and Africa into Japan for five years. He moved back to the United States and worked for American Silk Mills for over 10 years, first based at the corporate office in Manhattan, New York and later moving to Boca Raton, Florida. Presently, Stunda is acting as Sales Director for Barbarossa Leather and also works with other textile companies as a representative. Stunda has two daughters and is an avid runner. He splits his time between North Carolina and Florida, while still traveling overseas periodically to develop new customers and sales channels.
Patil is the President of Himalaya Imports, Inc. DBA Catania Silks of Paramount, California. He studied textile engineering and worked in a textile mill before immigrating to the United States. In 1992 Patil founded D&S Imports Exports Inc. and then in 1995 founded Himalaya Imports, Inc. DBA Catania Silks. In 1996 Dada started a textile mill in Bangalore, India named Sierra Silk Mills, Pvt. Ltd. Currently Catania Silks imports fabrics from around the world and distributes them in the United States and Canada.
Stunda and Patil join the current ITA Board of Directors which include: Ismail Arslan of De Leo and ITA President; Kelly DiFoggio of JLA Home and ITA Vice President; Kathryn Richardson of Libeco and ITA Treasurer; Brian Bunch, Mitchell Fabrics; Tom Forrester, Berkley Home Furniture; Mendy Kearns, Hamilton Fabric Sales Inc.; Jana Platina Phipps, Classical Elements; Jesse Rector, Portfolio International; and Katherine Shoaf, STI.
