TROY, N.C. — Powered by creative expansions to its licensed COCOCOZY and Biltmore® lines and other new additions, Capel Rugs enjoyed a highly successful October High Point Market, with dealer attendance for the first two days up 20% over the previous year’s show.

“We’re very excited about the results we generated at this fall’s High Point Market,” said Cameron Capel, vice president of national accounts for Capel Rugs. “Retailers are hungry for innovative looks that represent a strong value, and that’s exactly what we delivered. Our new rugs placed well across our entire customer base at a wide range of styles, constructions and price points, positioning us for solid growth as we head into next year.”

Leading the way were four new additions to the COCOCOZY line — Finesse Tower Court, Color Block, Ribbons and Glace. Inspired by one of Coco’s favorite designs from her textile line, COCOCOZY’s Tower Court collection drew particular attention with its modern, geometric styling. Machine woven in Belgium of 100% olefin, the design is part of Capel Rugs’ Finesse line of indoor-outdoor rugs. A 5’3” x 7’6” rug may retail for $149.

“Tower Court should have strong appeal with today’s contemporary leaning Millennials,” Capel said. “This model adds another strong indoor-outdoor design to our popular Finesse line.”

Capel added that Tower Court’s barley tone was especially well received. Tower Court also is available in charcoal, spa and capri blue colorways.

Also doing well at market for COCOCOZY were Ribbons, a playful hand tufted polyester design with colorful, ribbon-like waves in three colorways; Glace, a cool, transitional wool design hand tufted of wool and viscose in four colorways; and Color Block, a customizable collection of “accessible chic” designs that allows consumers to mix and match up to three colors from a palette of 12 fashionable choices.

“Color Block offers a high-end, heathered look that typically costs thousands of dollars, at a much more affordable price,” said Capel, adding that a 5’ x 8’ rug may retail for $699. “This program is a true game changer, offering custom looks out of India that can be delivered in as little as 30 days.”

A well-known home furnishings designer and blogger, Coco was in the Capel Rugs showroom on Sunday, Oct. 23 to kick off the latest additions to her rug line. In an informal “meet and greet” session with retailers, Coco talked about her design process and key inspirations.

During the October market, Capel Rugs also had a hit with three new collections introduced to the Biltmore® line. Leading the way was Century, an elegant, traditional design made in India of a New Zealand wool and nylon blend. This Wilton woven rug comes in two designs and five colorways: Floret in light green, red and mushroom; and Vista in moss green and cream.

Other new collections added to the Biltmore® line were Estate, an updated traditional rug hand knotted in India of 100% wool in five designs and colors; and Palisade, a sophisticated 100% wool hand knot with an intricate, transitional design.

“This year marks the 11th anniversary of our rug program with Biltmore, and these three new collections are the perfect way to launch our second decade of working together,” said Capel. “A mix of exact replicas and new designs, these latest Biltmore® additions feature colors and motifs that fit right in with today’s elegant yet relaxed lifestyles.”

Along with the additions made to the Biltmore® and COCOCOZY lines, Capel Rugs also debuted two new U.S.-made braided designs this market — Bonneville and New Homestead. An updated version of Capel’s oldest braided designs — and the first braided rug to be made completely from upholstery chenille yarns — New Homestead features a dynamic assortment of today’s hottest colors.

“Homestead is made with chenille yarns that give it the softness of upholstery fabric,” Capel said. “It’s lush and comfortable but also extremely durable and long-lasting. Retailers loved it.”

In addition, Capel Rugs had a winner in Bengal, a new, natural, hand-knotted jute with a geometric-meets-tribal styling in four color ways inspired by the sea. Capel Rugs also generated strong activity in High Point with several collections introduced at the summer Las Vegas Market.

The standouts included Simply Gabbeh, a hand-loomed collection of classic Gabbeh patterns from Persia in seven colorways updated for today’s lifestyles.

“This was one of the busiest markets we’ve had in quite a while,” said Capel. “We not only saw all of our key retailers, we also saw a number of new buyers and designers.”
